Except... not really.

If I travel even at 1% the speed of light towards something in back, I'll travel into the future, people on Earth will age faster than I will. This news article reminds me of that dumb ass one that came out a few weeks back about how all aliens would have two legs, two arms, and a head.

The question is why would you need to go faster than light to travel through time? You wouldn't, in fact you're traveling through time right now, congratulations future man.

I thought the article was going to question the ability to travel back in time, but the idea that just because you can't go faster than light therefore time travel is impossible is fucking retarded.

Also, was it ever up for debate that photons could travel faster than light? I thought that was a constant, a known fact of how fast light traveled? Isn't this sort of like saying "news just in, bears can't read, therefore cannot build houses," fuck me, better take that one up BBC!

Why do you think satellites have clocks that run at different speeds than the ones on Earth!? Fuck!

Both are guilty of the same level of stupidity. They both cover Professor Du, who seems to just wanted to have made a big announcement, rather than actually avoiding violating relativity. I guess Einstein's train is going the same speed as everything else.

I don't know, is it any more arrogant to suggest it's bad science, then to be a single professor to proclaim time travel is impossible because photons can't go faster than the speed of light? Despite the fact that, I don't know, it's witnessed everyday and relativity isn't just some weird hypothesis.

Yeah I agree, a photon is just the particle/wave that makes up light. Special relativity proves that 186,000 miles per second is the max that anything can travel inside of space/time.

Thats the article heading, do you think the Dr wrote the article ?

Its unlikely he has said time travel is impossible. Its more likely he has said to travel faster than light and therefore into the future via going faster than the speed of light is looking unlikely.

Scientists tend to not work in absolutes, you probably should know this already.

Ask him what he thinks if you have such a beef with the article.

References to time travel should of been omitted from the articles. But they need to sound exciting so terms like "time travel" are inserted into the headlines.

That is where the confusion comes in I believe.
